An unfortunate victim of poor urban planning this cathedral has been hemmed in by freeways and streets until it is nearly impossible to appreciate it as it was intended. But the basilica is no stranger to being at the center of activity. It remains tightly tied to its community and hosts some serious big name concerts as part of its outreach program which appears to be working since the majority of its parishioners are between 18 and 30. If you enter the facility, take time to count the angels. If you take enough time you will find all 675 of them in stone, glass, metal, wood, and more. Also worth noting is the Coat of Arms, designed by the Vatican, and, of course, the dome which forms the 250-foot-tall roof.
